Last Synapse Show of 2013

Before the holidays, we were busy preparing for Christmas orders and for a local, shopping event. My fingers were raw, and wrists were sore.. but I was able to stitch more pieces for this show than ever before!

We went with more of a black themed table, so the geeky, cross stitch characters and quotes would really pop.
I even constructed the peg-board display! After a trip to the hardware store, a couple stripped screws, and two coats of paint, the hinged display was complete.
This season, I also made nerdy, stocking ornaments featuring popular characters like Mario, Link, and Pac Man wearing Santa hats. There are still a few available (and on sale!) in our Etsy shop.
Special shout out to my batman, Dan, for being there the whole day to help. He is a pro at swiping cards, talking about video games to adorable kids, and running to get me yummy smoothies :)
It was a gorgeous, sunny day, and we loved meeting fellow geeks! Can't wait to see what 2014 will bring for Synapse to Synapse, but THANK YOU for being part of it with me.

Cute & Nerdy Outfits

I definitely remember a time in my early twenties where I felt like I needed to have a more grown up wardrobe. That there was no longer a place for Rainbow Brite in my everyday life. What was I thinking? Though I do admit, I have moved on from band shirts, but I cannot resist geeky touches to ordinary outfits.

Hey Arnold
Legend of Zelda Link

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles

Captain America

Back to the Future

Mixing Patterns

Star Wars

I also simply cannot resist toys, action figures, and plushies. They are all over our house. I have still been thinking about this T-Rex at the toy store. We became instant friends, but I didn't get him....yet.

How do you show your love for your favorite fandoms in the day-to-day?

Adventures: The Neon Boneyard

A while back, we explored The Neon Museum near the Arts District and Fremont Street in Las Vegas. This off-the-strip gem is home to some of the most iconic and world-famous signs of Vegas' past...thus the term boneyard or graveyard.

With historic facts and witty banter of the tour guide, we wandered through the neon signs with broken light bulbs and chipping paint, but it was beautiful.

I could not resist a photo with the giant S! If you are ever in Vegas, you should definitely check this place out. There are so many more signs than I posted, and the museum even lets you book photo shoots and special events in the boneyard.

Our tour ended just before dusk, so the signs that still had life in them began to turn on. Maybe next time we will take the night tour.

I Love Handmade: Cute & Nerdy

I could watch The Office anytime on repeat because of Michael & Dwight. How could you not want a Dwight paper doll?

Now that my new business cards are printed, it'd be so neat to keep them in a leather, heart card case. I love the deep blue color!

This dainty golden triangle necklace would be perfect with a classy dress or a simple touch to an over-the-top outfit.

For some reason, this glasses holder reminds me of 'Clarissa Explains It All' - must be the colors. It's the perfect quirky touch!

I am a much bigger Picard fan, but look at this Kirk Captain's Log Star Trek print! Too funny...and the way he's caressing it!

What's caught your eye online-shopping?

Nerd Love,
Sarah Jean
